Go on the trip of a lifetime with the premiere of the three-part mini-series “Time Traveling Bong.” The limited series from the minds of “Broad City‘s” Ilana Glazer, Paul W. Downs and Lucia Aniello will debut on 4/20 (of course) at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT following the season three finale of “Broad City” on Comedy Central. As part of a special, three-night event, “Time Traveling Bong” will roll out over three consecutive nights, April 20, 21, 22 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. Parts one and two will also re-air on Friday, April 22 starting at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT leading into the premiere of part 3 at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. The series centers on cousins played by Glazer and Downs who discover that their bong has the ability to transport them through space and time.
In “Time Traveling Bong” Glazer and Downs play Sharee and Jeff, two mediocre, suburban cousins who live together in a condo left to them by their grandmother in New Jersey. Their mundane lives take a twisted turn when they find a bong that also serves as a time machine, which transports them to Salem, Massachusetts in the height of the witch trial era, the racially segregated South in the 1960s, ancient Greece and even the dystopian future, among other times and places. Their buzz is killed when the bong breaks and they are forced to bounce around the space time continuum, learning to appreciate that there’s no time like the present.
For additional content, fans can check out “After the Smoke Clears,” a digital only-series that revisits the characters Sharee and Jeff meet throughout their time travels and whose lives they have irrevocably altered, for better or worse. And for an in-depth look at the production of the show, fans can watch “Behind the Bong,” a behind-the-scenes digital-only series that shows how the cast and crew recreated Ancient Greece, small town America in the 1960s, Salem in the 1690s, and the not-too-distant-future and features interviews with Glazer and Downs. “After the Smoke Clears” and “Behind the Bong” will be available on cc.com/timetravelingbongand the Comedy Central App on 4/20. Highlights and footage from “Time Traveling Bong” will also be found during the season on the Comedy Central channel on Snapchat Discover.
“Time Traveling Bong” is executive produced and written by Glazer, Downs and Aniello, who also directed the series, and executive produced by Dave Becky of 3 Arts Entertainment and Sam Reich. Sarah Babineau and Samantha Schles are the Executives in Charge of Production for Comedy Central.
All three-parts of “Time Traveling Bong” will be available on the Comedy Central app and oncc.com on 4/20. The Comedy Central App is available for free for iOS on the App Store, for Android on the Google Play store, and on Chromecast and Xbox One. Each part of the mini-series will be available to download-to-own day after air on iTunes, Amazon Video, Microsoft Movies and TV, Verizon Multi-Screen, Vudu and Google Play.
