Metro Goldwyn Mayer Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures have debuted the first official film stills from CREED II.

Stephen Caple Jr. directs the continuation of the Rocky saga, starring Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone and Tessa Thompson.

ACCLAIMED PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER SAFE HARBOUR TO MAKE U.S. DEBUT ON HULU

Hulu has boarded the critically acclaimed Australian series Safe Harbour for its U.S. debut as a Hulu Original Series. In a deal with NBCUniversal Television and New Media Distribution, the four-part event drama is the latest internationally-produced series to join Hulu’s growing slate of thought-provoking original series, and will make its debut on August 24th.

Safe Harbour will stream on Hulu alongside a growing list of successful international co-productions including the Peabody Award-winning National Treasure, as well as its relevant, provocative original dramas like the Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning The Handmaid’s Tale and Emmy-nominated The Looming Tower. Since co-producing and launching series such as Hard Sun and Harlots, consumption of high-caliber international dramas on Hulu has tripled over the past year alone.

Safe Harbour tells the story of five Australians on a yachting holiday from Darwin to Indonesia, whose idyllic vacation takes a disastrous turn when they come across a broken-down fishing boat, full of desperate asylum seekers. The Australians decide to help, towing the refugees, but when they wake the next morning the fishing boat is gone. Five years later they meet some of the refugees again and learn the truth. Someone cut the rope between the two boats and, as a result, seven people died when the fishing boat sank. The revelation drives a wedge of mistrust between the Australians, as they grapple with protecting themselves and doing the right thing. The refugees struggle with their desire for justice and, possibly, revenge. As each group struggles to find the truth and old secrets come to light, one question hangs over it all – who cut the rope?

As each hour-long episode unfolds, Safe Harbour reveals how a single action can have a ripple effect - building to tsunami proportions - and begging the question: “what would you do in this situation?” The story sparks conversation and challenges the viewer to think about the contemporary issues around immigration today.

NEON ACQUIRES WORLDWIDE RIGHTS TO TODD DOUGLAS MILLER’S “APOLLO 11”

NEON has acquired the worldwide theatrical rights to Todd Douglas Miller’s (Dinosaur 13) cinematic space event documentary, Apollo 11 The film features never-before-seen, large-format film footage of one of humanity’s greatest accomplishments.  The film is executive produced by CNN Films, which will retain the U.S. television rights, and is produced by Miller’s Statement Pictures.

The feature is currently in post-production.  Producers for Statement Pictures include Miller and Thomas Petersen.  Amy Entelis and Courtney Sexton of CNN Films are executive producers.

Miller is best known for the Emmy® Award-winning documentary, Dinosaur 13, which was also executive produced by CNN Films.  That film tells the story of the discovery of the largest Tyrannosaurus rex fossil ever found.  Dinosaur 13 world premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival.

Apollo 11 is the second film distribution collaboration between NEON and CNN Films in 2018.  Earlier this year, the two companies announced their shared distribution of Three Identical Strangers, a feature-length documentary about triplets separated at birth and then reunited as adults.  Three Identical Strangers had its world premiere at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and is successfully exhibiting in theaters now.

The deal for Apollo 11 was negotiated by Josh Braun of Submarine; Stacey Wolf, vice president of business affairs at CNN; and Evan Krauss of Gray Krauss Sandler Des Rochers LLP, along with Matt Burke and Ben Braun of Submarine.

HULU ACQUIRES AWARD-WINNING DOCUMENTARY “CRIME + PUNISHMENT” 

NEW HULU DOCUMENTARY TO PREMIERE IN THEATERS AND ON HULU AUGUST 24TH

Today, Hulu announced a deal to acquire whistleblower doc CRIME + PUNISHMENT as a Hulu documentary. After debuting at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, CRIME + PUNISHMENT went on to win the U.S. Documentary Special Jury Award for Social Impact Filmmaking, and has garnered numerous awards, including the Grand Jury Prize at the 2018 Independent Film Festival in Boston. Stephen Maing directed, produced and filmed, and Academy Award Winner Laura Poitras serves as an executive producer.  

The premium streaming service will partner with IFC Films to release the documentary simultaneously in theaters and on Hulu on August 24th.

CRIME + PUNISHMENT is a galvanizing and visually striking documentary that goes behind the scenes and undercover to expose discriminatory policing practices, intimidation and corruption within the New York Police Department. Told from multiple perspectives and precincts throughout New York City, Maing cinematically chronicles a band of minority whistleblower officers known as The NYPD 12, as well as the efforts of ex-cop turned private investigator, Manuel Gomez as they seek to expose the illegal use of arrest and summons quotas.

With unprecedented fly-on-the-wall access, the film artfully weaves an ensemble of interconnected stories and evidence from The NYPD 12, who put their careers on the line and mount a David vs. Goliath legal challenge—only to find themselves weathering harassment and retaliation from within their own departments.

“It was an act of bravery and defiance by all the cops and families who allowed their stories to be documented over the past four years so I’m heartened to know their efforts will not be in vain and this story made widely accessible,” said Maing. “It’s exciting to have Hulu’s amazing partnership and share this film theatrically, pursue an ambitious social impact campaign and present these previously unheard voices of active duty officers into the national dialogue around police reform. I am grateful for the collaborations and support I've received along the way, but most importantly to the brave participants of the film who have stepped forward for the sake of other citizens and officers.”

Parkland Parent Fred Guttenberg Issues Dad Challenge. #OrangeWaveInNovember

PARKLAND, Florida—Today, Fred Guttenberg, a Parkland father and NoRA member whose daughter Jaime was tragically killed in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting, is issuing a challenge to dad’s around the upcoming Father’s Day. The #OrangeWaveInNovember Dads Challenge encourages fathers to show their support for sensible reform to reduce preventable gun violence.

“Father’s Day is the perfect time for dads to get involved in this movement in a big way,” said Guttenberg. “I’m challenging all fathers to post a video or photo to social media of them doing something unique with the color orange, and to challenge ten other dads to do the same.” Orange was Jaime Guttenberg’s favorite color, and became the symbol of the gun violence prevention movement after it was worn to honor Hadiya Pendleton, a Chicago teen who was killed by preventable gun violence in 2013.

Fathers are encouraged to take to social media to show their commitmentment to vote for stronger gun safety in the November midterm elections. Dad’s are asked to be creative with their posts, whether that’s taking their #OrangeWaveInNovember sign out on their boat this weekend or by simply showing support at their father’s day barbecue.

The #OrangeWaveInNovember challenge is focused on driving fathers and their friends and family to the polls this November in an effort to elect politicians who are in favor of gun safety reform initiatives.

Actor and activist Alyssa Milano, who co-founded the NoRA initiative following the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting, agrees. “Dads are a crucial part of shifting the narrative surrounding the gun culture,” she said. “We need fathers to help fight against preventable gun violence.”

Usher Raymond star as Frozone's biggest fan in INCREDIBLES 2

Grammy-Award winning artist, Usher, announced his cameo role  in Disney’s upcoming film INCREDIBLES 2 hitting theaters Friday, June 15.

Usher will voice the number #1 fan of Frozone (Samuel L. Jackson). Frozone, the retired superhero, is most famous for his “Where is my Super Suit!?” clip with his wife. In the soon-to-be-released sequel, he returns for more action with the rest of The Incredibles.

·       “MY FINGERNAILS IS HIGH” / Las Vegas - N.O.R.E.’s in Sin City to smoke and get bent, but first he takes the stage to perform at the Art of Rap tour.  Then N.O.R.E. goes off the strip and across the tracks to Black Vegas for the best-fried food in the hood.  N.O.R.E. gets baked at a THC infused cooking class before Sonny tackles a tomahawk steak with legendary rapper Ice-T. The crew kicks it poolside at a crab boil with Benzino and Wu Tang’s Raekwon the Chef.

 

·       “BACK TO THE HOOD” / Queens - N.O.R.E. goes back to his old neighborhood to revisit the tastes of his childhood and sample the new flavors of gentrified Brooklyn/Queens.  N.O.R.E. kicks it like a mob boss with Capone and Fat Joe before they hit a 100-year old steak house with celebrity chef, Eddie Haung. N.O.R.E. caps off his homecoming by visiting the projects, where he was raised for a hood BBQ. 

 

·       “ARE YOU DRINKING THE SPIT CUP?” / Napa Valley, CA - N.O.R.E. gets nasty in Napa as he learns that wine country has some of the best food in the world. Like a true Godfather N.O.R.E. crushes grapes at Coppola’s winery while kicking it long time friend and celebrity chef Sunny Anderson.  N.O.R.E. eats it up at Oprah’s favorite breakfast spot before getting exclusive at Raymond’s vineyards with E-40.

 

·       “YOU COME ON VACATION AND YOU LEAVE ON PROBATION” / Miami - Miami is known for its elegance, weather and beautiful women, but it’s also the city N.O.R.E.’s called home for the past ten years. From high-end South Beach steaks to the best BBQ in the south N.O.R.E. is giving an insiders tour on where to eat and how do the MIA proper.  N.O.R.E. has a religious experience with Kent Jones on Ocean Drive, parties on a boat with Jim Jones and then hits the strip club with legendary rapper Akinyele.

 

·       “THE BIG APPLE BITE DOWN” / New York City - N.O.R.E. and crew take a bite out of the Big Apple.  From the streets of Harlem to high-class Manhattan fare, New York is home to 45,000 of the best eateries and N.O.R.E.’s crew are on a mission to try all of them.  Sonny eats every part of the cow, while N.O.R.E. chews the fat with Juelz Santana. Charlemagne Tha God checks in on N.O.R.E. to make sure he’s eating well.  Sean Evans, Miss Info and the crew play with fire while they eat at NYC’s all-time hottest street food vendor.

 

·       “I’VE PUT ON 35 POUNDS!” / Puerto Rico - N.O.R.E. takes the boys to the 51st state and N.O.R.E.’s father’s home, Puerto Rico to taste some serious history.  The crew walks the San Juan street markets munching on street food, then N.O.R.E. fear of pigeons come home to roost as he sits down with reggae tone producer DJ Blass for rotisserie chicken. The Marks family faces similar uncertainty as their home has quite literally been taken from them. The Sunday, Sept. 10, premiere of THE ORVILLE, FOX’s new space adventure series created by and starring Seth MacFarlane, delivered a Live + 35 Day multi-platform audience of 14.5 million viewers, marking a +71% lift from Live + Same Day, and a 3.9/13 L35 rating among Adults 18-49, gaining +44% vs. L+SD (2.7/9), according to Nielsen. The program’s debut marks the network’s most-watched and highest-rated debut since the 2015 launch of EMPIRE*.

THE ORVILLE’s 35-day non-linear audience of 2.6 million viewers also is the network’s largest average audience for a FOX fall drama debut since EMPIRE’s premiere. OWN’s new docu-series “Checked Inn,” featuring entrepreneur Monique Greenwood and the couples who visit her family-run, upscale bed and breakfast, will have its network premiere on Tuesday, November 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT (after an all new episode of Tyler Perry’s “If Loving You Is Wrong” at 9 p.m. ET/PT). ADDITIONAL GUEST CAST ANNOUNCED FOR ‘UNSOLVED: THE MURDERS OF TUPAC AND THE NOTORIOUS B.I.G.’

DOMINIC SANTANA is set to play Marion “Suge” Knight, the infamous co-founder and head of Death Row records in the 1990s. Santana is best known for his portrayal of Suge Knight in biopic “All Eyez On Me.” His other credits include “20 Funerals,” “Dead Heist” and "Dawson's Creek," where he landed his first speaking role on a major television show. Santana has also appeared in various TV series and films such as “One Tree Hill,” “The Dempsey Sisters,” cult hit “Love For Sale” and “Furnace” opposite Tom Sizemore. He is repped by J Pervis Talent.

DONALD FAISON will play Jacques “Haitian Jack” Agnant, a legendary New York-based club promoter turned music executive. Best known for his role as Dr. Christopher Turk on nine seasons of the Emmy®-nominated comedy series “Scrubs,” Faison currently recurs on “Ray Donovan” and co-stars in the Netflix comedy feature “Little Evil” opposite Adam Scott, Evangeline Lilly and Chris D'Elia. Other credits include “The Exes,” “Winsanity,” “Kick-Ass 2,” “Remember the Titans” and cult classic “Clueless.” Faison also lends his voice in “Bot Cop,” “Star Wars: Detours,” “Robot Chicken” and “Supermansion.” He is represented by United Talent Agency and Primary Wave Entertainment.

SOLA BAMIS has been tapped for the role of Afeni Shakur, a former Black Panther, political activist and the mother of Tupac Shakur. Bamis is best known for her role as Shirley on “Mad Men,” which garnered her a SAG Award nomination. Other credits include a recurring role on “Stitchers” and guest roles on “Lethal Weapon,” “Killer Women,” “Mistresses” and “Jane By Design.” She is repped by Paulo Andres from Rothman/Andres Entertainment.

WENDELL PIERCE is set for the role of Detective Lee Tucker, an old school homicide detective from the LA Sheriff’s Department. Most recently, Pierce wrapped shooting on “Jack Ryan,” where he stars opposite John Krasinski and Abbie Cornish. Prior to that, he appeared in the award-winning “Confirmation,” successful musical event “Grease Live!” and USA’s SUITS as high-powered attorney Robert Zane. Other credits include “Chicago P.D.,” “The Odd Couple,” “Ray Donovan,” “The Wire,” “Treme” and multi-award winning feature “Selma.” Pierce is a four-time NAACP Image Award Nominee and has won five Emmy® Awards for his narration of "Golden Days, Purple Knights: 50 Years of the Los Angeles Lakers." His memoir, “The Wind in the Reeds,” was published to rave reviews in 2015. He is repped by Essential Talent Management.

CAMILLE CHEN will play Grace Kim, a robbery-homicide department secretary who has always liked, but never loved, her job. Chen is best known for her role in “Game Night” opposite Jason Bateman and Kyle Chandler. Other credits include “Criminal Minds,” “Lucifer” and “MacGyver.” Chen is represented by Scott Zimmerman Management and Don Buchwald & Assoc.
