Reality TV get's more soul, with WE tv's HUSTLE & SOUL

Last week’s snowstorm in NYC may have temporarily derailed the premiere screening and party for WE tv’s new culinary docu-series “Hustle & Soul,” but Lawrence Page, owner and head chef of Brooklyn-based soul food restaurant The Pink Tea Cup, has overcome much bigger obstacles in his lifetime. While chatting with Extra correspondent A.J. Calloway during last night’s rescheduled premiere event at The Cutting Room, Page revealed that he was homeless for nearly three years while trying to revive the former West Village landmark.

The self-taught chef was joined by cast, friends and family to celebrate the new series. While guests enjoyed a DJ set from Questlove, they were invited to sample signature items from The Pink Tea Cup’s menu including chef Lawrence’s famed chicken & waffles and macaroni & cheese, as well as the restaurant’s highly popular cocktail, Savannah Iced Tea.

“Hustle & Soul” airs on Thursdays at 10/9c on WE tv.
