Sony Masterworks Broadway announces the release of RENT – ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK OF THE FOX LIVE TELEVISION EVENT, with music from the Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical RENT, as performed by cast members, with a live orchestra on stage, during FOX’s highly anticipated live broadcast.  Available for preorder now, the soundtrack will be released digitally on Friday, February 1, and as a two-disc CD set on Friday, March 1.  Included with today’s preorder and available now to stream and download is the show’s classic anthem “Seasons of Love (Radio Edit)” – listen here.  The live broadcast event airs Sunday, January 27 (8:00-11:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed), on FOX.

The star-studded cast includes actress Kiersey Clemons (Joanne Jefferson), Emmy nominee and Tony Award winner Brandon Victor Dixon (Tom Collins), singer/songwriter Jordan Fisher (Mark Cohen), actress and singer Vanessa Hudgens (Maureen Johnson), newcomer and singer/songwriter Brennin Hunt (Roger Davis), R&B/Pop superstar Mario (Benjamin Coffin III), recording artist Tinashe (Mimi Marquez) and performer Valentina (Angel Dumont Schunard). The television adaptation will be broadcast live from the historic Fox Studios in Los Angeles. Acclaimed film, television and theater producer Marc Platt (“Mary Poppins Returns,” “Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert,” “Grease: Live,” “La La Land,” “Wicked”), along with the estate of writer/composer Jonathan Larson, will executive-produce the event. Tony Award-nominated director Michael Greif (“Dear Evan Hansen,” “Rent”), who directed the original New York Theatre Workshop and Broadway productions of “Rent,” is the director overseeing the stage direction; and Alex Rudzinski (“Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert,” “Grease: Live,” “Dancing with the Stars”) will serve as the live television director.

In addition to Greif, creative team members from the original Broadway production of “Rent” returning for the television adaptation include Emmy Award-winning casting director Bernie Telsey and costume designer Angela Wendt. Additional creative team members include Obie Award winner Kristoffer Diaz writing the adaptation for television, Emmy Award winner Al Gurdon as lighting designer, Tony Award and Grammy Award winner Stephen Oremus as music director and producer, Jason Sherwood as set designer and two-time Emmy Award nominee Sonya Tayeh as choreographer.

“Rent” originally was produced in New York by New York Theatre Workshop and on Broadway by Jeffrey Seller, Kevin McCollum, Allan S. Gordon and New York Theatre Workshop.

New Season to Feature Nation’s Best Dancers Between Ages of 18 and 30 : Auditions to be Held in New York City, Los Angeles and Dallas

FOX has renewed the Emmy Award-winning dance competition series SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE for a 16th season. From Industrial Media’s 19 Entertainment and dick clark productions, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE will return this summer on FOX. 

“Each season, the talent on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE reaches new levels and continues to create the most incredible routines,” said Rob Wade, President, Alternative Entertainment and Specials, Fox Broadcasting Company. “The hard work and passion that goes into each performance is awe-inspiring. We can’t wait to see what Season 16 has in store and look forward to bringing you a new crop of incredible, inspired and inspiring dancers.”

“I am thrilled that we have been picked up by FOX for Season 16 of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE,” said executive producer Nigel Lythgoe. “This allows us to shine the spotlight once again on the incredible choreographic and dance talent across the United States as we search for America’s favorite dancer.”

Auditions for the 16th season of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE kick off next month. Dancers can audition online by registering and uploading a video, or providing a link to a video of their performance, at https://soyouthinkyoucandance2019season16.castingcrane.com/. Selected dancers will be invited to attend auditions in New York (Feb. 9), Dallas (Feb. 12) and Los Angeles (Feb. 23). From those auditions, the dancers selected will be invited to Los Angeles to perform for the judges.

Dancers either must be U.S. citizens, legal permanent residents of the U.S. or possess current legal Employment Authorization Cards enabling them to seek employment freely in the U.S. (i.e., without restrictions as to employer) by the date specified in the eligibility rules. Dancers must be no younger than 18 or older than 30 years of age on the day of their in-person auditions. Dancers must provide legal, valid proof of age when they register for auditions.

The deadline to register online for a chance to audition in New York and Dallas is Sunday, Jan. 27, 2019 at midnight PT. The deadline to register online for a chance to audition in Los Angeles is Sunday, Feb. 10, 2019 at midnight PT.

Billy McFarland offers us a window into the mind of a con artist, the insidious charm of the fraudster and how they can capture our imaginations, our investment, and our votes in the age of Trump. McFarland’s staggering ambition metastasized in a petri dish of late-stage capitalism, corporate greed, and predatory branding, all weaponized by our fear of missing out.

Our aim was to set the stage for a strange journey into the moral abyss of our digital age, going beyond the meme to show an ecosystem of enablers, driven by profit and willing to look the other way, for their own gain.

We draw on countless cultural references, on true crime tension, and on humor - but we did not intend to create a toothless comedy about the Fyre Festival. We hope this film can pierce our collective apathy and disrupt our own millennial peers, if only for an instant - to look at these stories for what they truly are, and to halt this algorithm before it devours us whole.

In the film, Keke Palmer portrays a struggling same gender loving woman pimp named Wednesday whose fortune changes after her girlfriend hits the mean streets of New York. The film digs deep into the life of woman hustling with Keke Palmer giving a powerful portrayal of young woman involved in a dangerous game, with her dreams of ever escaping the life being put at risk. Written and directed by Christine Crokos and executive produced by Lee Daniels, “PIMP’s” cast also includes Aunjanue Ellis, Vanessa Morgan, Mike E. First African American Female NASCAR Stars Host BUMBLEBEE Auto Clinic

With the upcoming release of BUMBLEBEE (Releasing December 21, 2018) local female influencers gathered at West Coast Customs (Pimp My Ride) for a special Glammed Out Auto Clinic taught by Tia Norfleet, the first African American Female NASCAR Racing Star and Brehanna Daniels, the first female African-American pit crew member.

The two historical figures spoke to the ladies in attendance about overcoming adversity, having strong support systems and everything NASCAR. The ladies later learned how to check their oil and change a tire while in their heels!

Hulu announced that it has acquired 2019 Official Sundance SelectionAsk Dr. Ruth to join its growing slate of award-winning documentary films, which includes 2018 Sundance Film Festival selections and critically acclaimed titles Minding the Gap and Crime + Punishment. The film will premiere at Sundance Film Festival, on Hulu and in theaters in 2019, and will receive the widest theatrical release for a Hulu Documentary to date.

Directed by Ryan White (The Keepers, The Case Against 8), Ask Dr. Ruth chronicles the incredible life of Dr. Ruth Westheimer, a Holocaust survivor who became America's most famous sex therapist. With her diminutive frame, thick German accent, and uninhibited approach to sex therapy and education, Dr. Ruth transformed the conversation around sexuality. As she approaches her 90th birthday and shows no signs of slowing down, Ask Dr. Ruth follows Dr. Ruth as she revisits her painful past and unlikely path to a career at the forefront of the sexual revolution.
